Biography



Dragos Bratasanu is a world-renown award-winning image scientist, professional photographer, lecturer and art manager.

Dragos received the M.Sc. degree in electronics and telecommunications from University Politehnica of Bucharest, Romania in 2008 with a thesis on learning and inferring spatial structures from satellite images using visual attention models and sequential fragmentation in the scenes. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree at the University of Siegen - Center for Sensor Systems in Germany with a paper on interactive models for analysis and interoperation of multi-modal geospatial information. For the last three years he has been working as research scientist for the Romanian Space Agency ROSA developing state-of-the-art technologies for satellite image analysis. He received several prizes from entities like the European Space Agency ESA, European Union Satellite Center EUSC, DigitalGlobe USA, IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society in Canada, International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing in Australia.

Dragos leads a photography business, working with clients and partners from around the world. His studio creates and develops art projects, photography exhibitions, art books specially designed for companies and many more.

Dragos was trained in Arts Management by the Sibelius University of Helsinki in Finland and presently he travels the world lecturing on marketing, publishing and selling photography.

Following his two expeditions in Antarctica and the Arctic, Dragos became a National Geographic collaborator in Romania. In 2011 he was the photographer and engineer of the first Romanian mission to Mars Desert Research Station in the desert of Utah, USA. He also writes for various publications, newspapers and magazines.
