In January 2011, the Romanian Space Agency ROSA organized ROMARS 2011 - martian simulation mission at the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah, USA.
Dragos served as the press officer of the Romanian crew. While it is said that a picture speaks a thousand words, in his case is an understatement. His photographs managed to capture the eerie feelings of being on another planet, transforming the make-believe into reality. For two weeks, Dragos pointed his camera towards the Utah landscape, but instead the photos he took were of another planet. While the Romanian crew received plenty of words of praise from Mars Society , much of this is due to Dragos. His photos were deemed to be the best even taken at the MDRS and when Mars Society will launch its first mission to the Red Planet, Dragos will be there as the official photographer of the crew. Godspeed, Dragos!"
